How to take futures trades while you're at work
If your strategy or signal provider calls trades while you're at work, PropTradeBot can take them for you. It runs on your Mac, places the order the moment the alert or Discord call lands, puts the stop on, trims at your targets and flattens at your time. You check in when you can.
Why I built it
I follow a Discord provider and trade Topstep. The calls come when the market moves, and that's usually when I'm
at work. By the time I'd seen the message, opened the platform and typed the order, the entry was gone. Or I'd get
it in and forget the stop. So I built something that takes the call the moment it lands, the same way every time.
What it does while you're away
- Enters at market the moment a signal arrives, on one account or several.
- Puts a stop on every position, straight away.
- Takes T1 and T2 at your targets, moves the stop to your setting, and manages the runner.
- Stops taking entries at your cutoff, and flattens at your end-of-day time.
- Stops for the day when an account hits your daily loss limit.
What it won't do
- Guess. A signal it can't read is refused, with the reason in the app.
- Chase. A Discord entry too far from the provider's price is refused.
- Stack trades. One trade at a time.
- Make a bad strategy good. It executes your signals; the decisions are still yours.
What you need
- A Mac at home that stays awake during your session, with the app open.
- Your signals: TradingView alerts, or a Discord provider with Chrome open on the channel.
- A Topstep account with API access, or an account you trade in NinjaTrader 8 (needs a Windows PC or Windows
virtual machine; see the NinjaTrader guide).
Check the rules first. Following your firm's rules is your responsibility. For Topstep, read
Topstep's automation rules before you go live.
